Kim Lett is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) living in Orlando Florida. She is a native Texan, born in Ft. Worth. Her family moved to Central Florida when she was just six months old.
After graduating from Boone High School, Kim attended Furman University in Greenville, SC, where she received a degree in business administration. She worked for Lockheed Martin and held various positions in business fields for a total of seventeen years. The first thirteen years she worked in Orlando. Her last four years with Lockheed were in Oak Ridge, TN.
Kim moved to Chattanooga in 1997. Within a few years, she decided to change career direction. She pursued and received a nutrition degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) and completed her dietetic internship through the distance program at Oakwood College in 2006. At that time she began working as a clinical dietitian.
In 2012 Kim decided it was time to return home to Orlando, and she accepted an employment opportunity with the YMCA of Central Florida. At the YMCA she was a Senior Wellness Director for a large family center. Kim left the YMCA to work in long-term care and later chose to step out and start her own business, Kim Lett Nutrition LLC. While starting her business, she worked part-time for My Health OnSite, an employee health center in Osceola County. She now works full-time in private practice.
Kim's forty-year career has provided a broad-base of experiences that uniquely qualifies her to work with individuals and organizations on healthy living:
Kim shares a few highlights of her work specific to nutrition:
In addition to sound nutrition, Kim knows physical activity is important for healthy living. She is also a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Certified Group Exercise Instructor. Kim is a strong proponent of incorporating physical activity into your life. When it comes to food, if you don't like what your diet dictates you eat, you won't be on that diet for long! The same is true with exercise. While exercising can certainly be challenging if you've never been very active, Kim knows this doesn't mean you can't do it. Opportunities to become physically active abound. Kim can help you discover an activity you will enjoy.
On a more personal note, Kim was privileged to be a statistician for the Orlando Magic during the team's 1989-1990 inaugural season and then for four more seasons. This was an exciting experience for a young woman who loves the sport having played competitive basketball in junior high school, high school, and later in recreational leagues. Kim also played softball, participated in various 5K road races, and was a cheerleader in junior high school, high school, and college (Furman University). Today she has a renewed interest in tennis, enjoys cooking, home decorating and spending quality time with family and friends.
Kim has experienced a number of challenges along life's journey. Her life is still a work in progress. She hopes that some of the personal stories she may share with her clients will provide encouragement, hope for living a better life and finding joy along the way. Kim has found that when she honors her three "F's" - Faith, Family and Friends, her life is much more fulfilling.
